• Astra Starter Sites

  • About

Astra has been around since April 2017, when they launced the first version of their theme. Astra is a WordPress Theme in the traditional sense of the word. This basically means that on its own many newcomers to WordPress will find it pretty useless since you basically need to custom build a design from scratch. That's why already in August of the same year they introduced what they would call "starter sites": pre-made layouts you can import with a dedicated plugin.

While the first starter sites we're based on the Beaver Builder page builder they would ultimately choose the more popular Elementor tool to build the majority of their starter sites. Page templates and demo content that make up an entire site have become mainstream with allmost all of the more popular theme brands. And Astra has over a 100 evenly split between premium and non-premium versions.

  • Product Feature

The fact that Astra provides a free version in the WordPress themes repository, in combination with the large catalogue of starter sites based on Elementor have proven a good recipe for its current popularity.

They have placed important theme features like WooCommerce compatiblity, white labelling, header customization and layout designs among others into their premium version. A choice which will seduce quite a few Astra users into the payment funnel. Also premium support is obviously only available through an up-sell.

The majority of people going premium with Astra will stick with the cheapest package since the more expensive packages don't really add much for the increase in price (59 USD vs 169 and 249 USD). But overall, even the free version of Astra is already a tremendously powerful package to build a website.

  • Website Builder

As stated before, the Astra theme itself is pretty useless without using it with a website builder, preferably Elementor. The majority of their starter sites are based on this popular website builder.

This means that choosing Astra will almost always mean you choose Elementor as your go-to tool for expanding and maintaining the overall layout and design of your site.

This isn't a bad thing since Elementor is one of the if not the most popular website builder tool currently available. And Elementor provides a free version as well.

  • License Information

The only purchase made available on Nexus Themes is the hosted version of any of Astra's starter sites.

When you purchase the hosted version you actually obtain a license which is valid for a single year. A license gives you access to your Nexus Account. From within your account we make available hosting services like domain registration, DNS configurations, backup downloads, single-site login functionality and the like.

A license also means you can request support using the Support Form, by sending an email at support@nexusthemes.com or by contacting us through Facebook Messenger.

After a year you can renew your license if you want continued support and keep your site running on our servers.

The support is restricted to the hosting of your site and doesn not include WordPress itself, WordPress plugins, web server technology, SEO, extensive troubleshooting of your site and the like.

Should you need extensive support on either Astra or Elementor, we recommend you obtain a license from either parties yourself. Our license is non-transferable and does not give you the right of premium support from either provider.

Both Astra and Elementor are widely supported and free support is available from a number of WordPress groups including: Astra WordPress Theme Community", " Elementor Community", " the WordPress Nexus", " WordPress Community for Non-Techies", " WordPress", " WordPress Hub - WordPress help for beginners", " WordPress, SEO, & Internet Questions", and " WPBeginner Engage - WordPress Help for Non-Techies".
