• Quick Summary: As we wrap up the Astra Starter Sites by no means we're sitting still. Next up will be the addition of a new theme provider. And it's between Divi and OceanWP.

  • Nexus Themes' Strategy for 2020

Community questions (what's the best [fill in the blank]?) related to themes and builders always center around just a few brands. Astra, OceanWP, Divi, Elementor, GeneratePress etc.

As a grand strategy for 2020 as a theme and hosting provider I set out to offer third party products for the first time in 8 years. We've already included the entire Astra Starter Sites catalogue as a full-service hosted concept.

It basically means you get an entire site running pro versions of both theme (Astra) and builder (Elementor) while only paying the hosting fee, which rivals Siteground's single site package for 45 USD / year (because everybody is promoting Siteground so that's my main competitor).

New theme provider coming: Divi or OceanWP

We expand both horizontally (across different brands) and vertically (across different business types) with the addition of each new catalogue. This week either Divi Website Packs or OceanWP demo sites will be integrated in our catalogue. It would effectively increase our theme count to 500+, with 350 of our own themes plus 100 Starters Sites and 50 or 100 new layouts.

Possible re-introduction of the Portfolio Plugin

Apart from possible organic traffic through SEO, I've been toying with the idea of re-introducing our "Portfolio Plugin" and an affiliate marketing proposition.

This plugin enabled showing our entire WordPress theme catalogue in your website white-label with thumbnails, descriptions, features etc.

With the addition of other brands, more themes, a greater choice per business type, and our increased technical proficiency and stack, this abandoned Portfolio Plugin idea becomes a viable (free) service once again.
